PGBV VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

WE NEED YOUR HELP. The team is entirely run by volunteers. As such, we require each family to contribute in some capacaity. There are many different ways to help keep the team running smoothly.  Here’s a complete list of volunteer opportunities that are available to sign up and participate for Pleasant Grove Vikings Biking team. During each race season, the Utah High School Mountain Bike League (who run the races) require a parent from each family to volunteer at at least one race.

TEAM RACE VOLUNTEER DESCRIPTIONS

Feed Zone Volunteer

Feed zone is where athletes can drop and pickup hydration after the first lap during a race. Parent/guardians have an opportunity to watch their athlete start, head to the feed zone to help, cheer them on as they pass the feed zone. Once all our team athletes pass, you may head to the finish to watch riders cross the finish line.

The league only allows for 5 feeders to be in the feed zone at any given time.  PGBV have lanyards that designate that we are allowed in. Wave sizes will determine the number of volunteers needed for each wave. We’ll teach you how to hold the type of water bottles for athletes.

Duties include:

  • stand & handout water bottles to athletes as they pass
  • pickup dropped bottles
  • refuel feed zone station

Up to 4 feeders per wave depending on the number of athletes  Approx. 30 -45 min per wave  4 waves per race: Freshman, Sophomore, Junior Varsity, and Senior

Food Committee

Food committee is expected to help at the race pit zone food zone for PGBV team tent.

Pit Zone Teardown

The team needs your help taking down Pit Zone tent after the last race finishes. Will be at the end of the races, typically after 5pm

Race Wave Staging Volunteers

We need volunteers to help stage each wave of PGBV racers. This consists of gathering the race wave athletes, warm up, making sure they have hydration and bikes are ready. Taking them to stage to line up for their wave race.

Finish Line Support Volunteers

We need volunteers to help Coaches at the finish line (the coaches zone).  Volunteers will wait outside the finish line  and help take athletes bikes as they cross the finish. Coaches will hand the bikes to you to hang up on the bike racks. Coaches may need additional support helping to check in finishers when we have large groups.

Please note ONLY coaches with hang tags are allowed in the coaches zone finish line.

2 volunteers per a wave  Approx. 30 -45 min per wave  for the HS Girls wave 7, HS JV D/E Boys wave 8, and Freshman boys wave 9
